Why Early Inspirations Still Shape the Magic I Bring to Today’s Resort Shows

Every magician has a moment when the spark first hits, and lately I’ve been thinking about mine. Long before I ever stepped onto a stage at places like Pocmont Resort or Fernwood Resort, I was just a kid watching Mark Wilson, Doug Henning, Jeff McBride, Rocco, and all the great magicians who lit up the TV screens of the 1980s. Those shows didn’t just entertain me—they pulled me in. They made magic feel alive, colorful, and full of possibility.

My oldest sister Mary played a huge part in that spark too. She bought me a magic kit every month when I was young—six, seven, maybe eight years old. I can’t remember the exact age, but I remember the feeling. Every kit was a new world to explore, a new trick to master, a new reason to fall in love with magic. She still picks up magic books and kits for me whenever she finds them at garage sales or thrift stores, and it always brings me right back to where it all started.

As I got older, I found myself inspired by the legends—Houdini, of course, and the modern keepers of his legacy like Dorothy Dietrich and Dick Brooks at the Houdini Museum in Scranton. I’ve spent a lot of time there over the years, helping out whenever I can. On the local level, performers like Damien from Scranton and Cosmic Lou & Faye, who have long since passed on, helped shape the performer I eventually became.

All of those influences—family, TV magic, local legends, and the old resort circuit—still show up in the way I perform today. Whether I’m entertaining families at a modern resort or bringing interactive magic to a community event, those early inspirations guide the way I connect with people. They remind me that magic isn’t just about tricks; it’s about creating moments that stay with people long after the show is over.

If your resort or venue is looking for entertainment that blends classic inspiration with modern, interactive fun, I’d be happy to help create an unforgettable experience for your guests. You can reach me anytime at 1‑872‑21‑MAGIC.
